Tie it right

A knot that's almost right is a knot that fails at the worst moment. We teach the right one, every time.

/ 02

Teach the hands

Instructions get forgotten. Hands don't. We build diagrams your fingers can follow.

/ 03

Pass it on

The library is open. Learn a knot, then teach it to the next person.

Rope and hands, at the bench.
From the desk of Elias Marlow

Most people think knots are memorized. They're felt.

I learned the bowline on a fishing boat when I was eleven, from a deckhand who tied it with his eyes closed and told me I'd know I had it when my hands stopped thinking about it.

He was right. A knot isn't a sequence you remember — it's a shape your fingers learn, the way a guitarist's fingers learn a chord. You tie it wrong a hundred times, and then one day it's just there.

So this library isn't a list of instructions. It's a place to practice. Watch it draw, tie it once, tie it until your hands stop thinking. Then come teach the next person.
