Cordage care

Whip the ends, store it dry, inspect it every season. Rope fails quietly.

Rope fails quietly

Most rope doesn't snap in a single dramatic moment — it degrades slowly, one UV hour and one kinked coil at a time. Care is inspection.

The routine

whip seal cut ends so they don't fray
store dry, cool, out of direct sun
inspect run every meter, feel for lumps
retire at the first flat spot or burn glaze

Why it matters

A whipped end and a dry locker add years to a rope. A missed flat spot can end a fall. Check your lines every season.
