Square knots, half hitches, and a dowel. This wall hanging is the project that teaches you the most — because every knot you learn shows up somewhere in it.

What you need

cord      20 strands × 3 m of 3 mm cotton
knots     square knot, half hitch, gathering
hardware  one wooden dowel

The build

Mount the strands on the dowel with a lark's head, build a diamond of square knots, and let half hitches fall into a fringe. Size it to the wall and step back often.
